Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist
A Skilled and Experienced Gastroenterologist and a hepatologist.
I am thrilled to introduce myself as a gastroenterologist with over 14 years of experience. Originally from Sri Lanka, I have worked as a gastroenterologist and general physician in Taree, Foster, and Manning Base hospitals, providing compassionate care to patients in need. Now, I am excited to bring my skills and expertise to Sydney and begin practising in my new rooms.
My medical journey started at the University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, where I received my Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree. I subsequently undertook advanced training in general medicine and received an MD in medicine from the University of Colombo. After completing my training, I moved to Australia and began my specialisation in gastroenterology. I have had the privilege of working in some of Australia’s most prestigious hospitals, including the Alfred Hospital, Frankston Hospital, Box Hill Hospital, Ballarat Hospital, Launceston Hospital, John Hunter Hospital, and Mater Hospital. I received FRACP in General Medicine, gastroenterology, and Hepatology.
Throughout my career, I have gained extensive experience in diagnosing and treating a variety of gastrointestinal disorders, including gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), liver disease, and Gastrointestinal cancers. I am skilled in performing diagnostic procedures such as diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy and
colonoscopy, capsule endoscopies, and fibro scans of the liver. and I have helped countless patients find relief from their digestive symptoms.
One of my primary goals as a gastroenterologist is to provide personalized and compassionate care to each of my patients. I understand that digestive disorders can be both uncomfortable and embarrassing, and I strive to create a welcoming and supportive environment where patients can feel comfortable discussing their symptoms and concerns. I believe in taking a collaborative approach to treatment, working closely with each patient to develop a customised care plan that addresses their unique needs and goals.
In addition to my clinical work, I am committed to staying up-to-date with the latest developments in gastroenterology. I am an active member of several professional organisations, including the Gastroenterological Society of Australia (GESA), American Gastroenterology association (AGA) , American neurogastroenterology and motility society (AMMS), and the Australian Medical Association (AMA). I also attend conferences and workshops regularly, ensuring that I am always learning and growing as a physician.
I am thrilled to begin practicing in my new rooms in Sydney, and I look forward to serving the local community. If you are experiencing digestive symptoms or have concerns about your gastrointestinal health, I encourage you to make an appointment to see me. With my expertise and compassionate care, I am confident that we can work together to help you achieve optimal health and wellbeing.
